Introduction:

Parakeets, commonly known as budgerigars, the budgries most popular parrot  in the world. These  colorful  parrots have a rich history that spread out back thousands of years. From their origins in the vast Australian outback to their worldwide popularity as beloved companions, the parakeet's history has been one of adaptability, companionship and human charm.

Ancient origins:

budgies come from Australia, where they have lived for millions of years. Australian peoples were among the first to witness the beauty of these birds as they turn around freely in the wild. The  people have developed a deep bond with these parrots and often include them in their stories and artwork

Discovery :

 The name 'parakeet' is believed to derive from the Aboriginal term for 'parakeet'; means "good" or "delicious"; which reflects their edible appeal.




Domestication and Worldwide Distribution

The parakeets' real transformation  began when they were first exported from Australia to England in the mid-19th century.These  intelligent birds have quickly won the hearts of bird lovers. Breeding programs were established that resulted in the development of various color mutations that are now common in captive parakeets.

Parrots worldwide:

The parakeet trade became global in the 20th century. From Europe, these cute parrots made their way to various countries, including the United States. Their adaptability to different climates, ease of maintenance , and lovable and friendly personality have all contributed to their popularity as family pets.

Parakeets in Popular Culture:

parakeets have also become cultural icons, to become visible in literature, art, and even film. They appeared in children's books, cartoons, and commercials, cementing their status as beloved companions.
